Rebooting & Clearing the Cache of My Professional Life
Apr 15, 2016
Welcome to my new blog. I plan to write about many things here --- life, television, movies --- but I will be focusing a lot of my efforts around my work as a Web and mobile application developer.
A lot has changed for me over the past few years. I went from being an RIA Evangelist at Roundbox (now defunct) to working at Measured Progress to freelancing and feeling fairly underemployed. I've done my best to learn new technologies --- Appcelerator Titanium, Angular, Angular 4, Ionic --- whilst wrapping my head around the entire ecosystem that is modern Javascript. For a long while it was all overwhelming. It seemed like we were introduced to ten new frameworks or automation libraries or CSS pre-post-processors every day. I eventually learned (or, actually, re-learned) how to cut through the daily white noise and focus on things that mattered most to me.
These days I am hard at work getting up-to-speed with the on-going development of Ionic 2 and Angular 2, both now in beta. That includes other projects like RxJS, Zones.js, Node.js, and Sass. Those are the technologies I am really enjoying, so expect future posts on them.
I'm no expert. I'm still learning. But that is what is so very exciting about these days; everything is in beta, including our skills. Not many people are expert at the new versions of these technologies. Learn along with me, if you'd like. Help me to learn if you can.
